10 sheet masks to soothe winter skin

With snow on the cards as the mercury finally takes its seasonal slump—with quite the dramatic flair, I might add—not to mention intentionally frosted holidays on the cards, it’s time to rework skincare to up the ante when soothing wind-burned, frost-nibbled and dehydrated skin. Specifically, we look here at the sheet mask.

More than just a self-care moment, these contain high concentrations of reparative ingredients and intense hydration. Each serum-fuelled mask often includes around the equivalent of a whole bottle of product, whilst the sheet allows gradual, yet full absorption of each ingredient. Excellent to rebalance and nourish skin before adding your favourite occlusive moisturiser to seal it all in.

Decorté, Liposome Moisturising Mask

Perfect for dry, tight or rough skin, Decorte applies their proprietary multilayered Liposome Technology: encapsulated actives that instantly hydrate, soften and smooth, to improve skin. Purple rice, hop and royal jelly extract, all of which offer powerful antioxidant benefits, and hyaluronic acid, are found in this triple-layered, stretchable fabric mask.

Meder, Red-Apax Mask

A gentle giant, specifically formulated to reduce redness and discomfort from heat, cold, wind and other reactive aggressors. Exceptionally soothing, in their harmony of calming and reconditioning ingredients, you find centella asiatica and chamomile extracts, alongside amino acid-rich rice ferment filtrate, and hyaluronic acid and glycerine, to rebalance hydration.

CACI Hydro Mask

Used alongside their clinical microcurrent treatments, this is your ticket to an in-pjs-on-the-sofa salon-at-home vibe. The CACI Hydro Mask delivers its namesake, with collagen, hyaluronic acid and soothing rose water to deeply nourish, soothe and provide intensive skin hydration, whilst their gel mask offers physical cooling to the skin.

Dermaroller, Mask

This silk mask is infused with hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and Matrixyl (a proprietary peptide complex), as each active ingredient works to restore lacking moisture and boost the skin's production of collagen. Developed for microneedling post-treatment, soothing inflammation and sustaining skin repair, environmental aggressors like ski-slope wind burn or drying recirculated cabin air are a whizz.

HydroPeptide, PolyPeptide Collagel+ Face Mask

Fuelled by the brand's hydrogel technology of encapsulated peptides, and with added soluble collagen, skin is cooled and comforted whilst latching onto moisture. Supporting skin against free radical damage, caviar and soybean ferment extracts, and vitamin E are powerful antioxidants.

Rodial, Dragon's Blood Jelly Mask

Within two half-face contouring hydrogel sheets lies the Rodial Dragon’s Blood formula, to recharge critical hydration. Ginkgo biloba extract and raspberry ketone, SYN®-AKE tripeptide, and a blend of persimmon leaf, basil leaf and chamomile extracts shield and nourish, leaving skin gloriously plump and content.

CACI Rejuvenating Hand Mask

Let’s not forget the hands here, as there are so often. With hyaluronic acid (a recurrent ingredient in this list, granted), hydrolysed collagen and shea butter hydrate and soften skin, and reinforce the skin barrier. Especially useful if you dislike the feeling of hand creams, or for weather-worn skin.

Dr.Jart+, Ceramidin Facial Barrier Mask

Korean skincare hype isn’t declining anytime soon, and for good reason. Ceremide NP sits high on the ingredients list, making this great for fragile skin types (ultra-dry and compromised, rosacea, eczema). With panthenol (to retain moisture) and glycerin (maintain moisture levels), the skin barrier is fortified and hydration locked.

111 Skin, Y Theorem Bio Cellulose Facial Mask

Using bio-cellulose material, this ‘second skin’ mask cocoons the face for enhanced ingredient penetration over traditional fabric bases. Looking at the ingredients, ectoin (derived from extreme environment-dwelling microorganisms) forms a protective water shield around cells to help preserve water, whilst sea anemone extract and escin are potent antioxidants to protect and prevent environmental damage. In all, it’s a real high achiever.

MZ SKIN, Vitamin-Infused Meso Face Mask

A cosmeceutical concoction, developed for post-treatment following clinical laser, each mask is imbued with anti-inflammatory liquorice extract, aloe leaf, and vitamins C and E. The cooling hydrogel mask allays irritation and promotes healing.
