The Reservation Journals, Autumn: London’s Best New Restaurant Openings
As blistering heatwaves, unduly iced drinks, alfresco dining, and long, torrid evenings finally take a backseat, we’re shifting our date nights and post-work rendezvous to cosier and more personal settings. As the city ever changes, here’s our roundup of what's in the diary across London’s freshest hospitality offerings.
Endo Kazutoshi, Endo
Endo, Chelsea: opening October 1st
From celebrated third-generation sushi master Endo Kazutoshi comes Endo. Continuing his dedication to meticulous detail, expect mindful sourcing from single-craft master artisans, who select and tailor each ingredient exclusively—and with seasonal sensitivity—for the omakase (chef's choice) menu.
Their nori comes from Hayashiya at Toyosu Market in Tokyo, strictly harvested during the cold winter months; their wasabi, the rare Mazuma variety, is grown by master wasabi farmer Mochizuki in the Shizuoka mountains, slowly cultivated for three years in spring water.
After the culinary success of Endo at the Rotunda, which opened in 2019 and earned a Michelin star in just six months, their new venture offers an equally, if not more, intimate 10-seat dining experience. Set in a Chelsea townhouse rather than a sky-rise scene, the interiors are a meditation on his childhood spent at his grandfather's restaurant in Yokohama.
Endo diners can preview Moga (officially opening for stand-alone reservations from December) on the second floor before their sitting. Drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s bar culture, expect a cocktail menu that pays homage to the Japanese tea ceremony, in direct collaboration with London’s renowned tea specialist, Postcard Teas, accompanied by dishes from the Rotunda archives, and those inspired by Endo’s travels.
Sittings: Wednesday to Saturday, sittings 5:45 pm and 8:45 pm.
Address: 8-9 Blacklands Terrace, London SW3 2SP
Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers, South Bank
Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers, South Bank: opened September 1st
London’s South Bank is not shy of panoramic skyline views and open-air waterfront terraces, yet the opening of Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers creates a new destination we are truly thrilled to see.
Offering all-day dining, the menu celebrates the venue's maritime history and British cuisine through dishes such as whole native lobster and Cornish crab tagliolini, alongside the from-the-grill options expected of a Ramsay carte, including a 45-day aged Rib Eye and the sharing Côte de Bœuf. Legendary signatures also appear, from the famed Beef Wellington to the mischievous Idiot Sandwich flight.
Diners might note the immersive interiors, designed by Jacu Strauss, tell of the building’s 1920s transatlantic cruise liner heritage and local river-mudlarking yore, whilst the open kitchen performs beside a central bar, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces overlook the dynamic Thames backdrop.
As an exciting new chapter for luxury riverside hotel Sea Containers London and the Gordon Ramsay group, it also creates a landmark partnership between Gordon Ramsay Restaurants Global and the Lore Group (of Pulitzer Amsterdam, Hotel Park Ave NYC, and Lyle Washington DC).

MOI, Soho
MOI, Soho, new menu launched September 1st
Since joining in the spring, chef Robbie Jameson (formerly head chef of Humo) has stepped from head chef of Spanish-inspired ALTA to executive chef of MAD Restaurant Group. Whilst continuing to oversee the ALTA kitchen in Kingly Court, his new role will see him lead the way at Wardour Street, alongside Head Chef Gustavo Tavares and Head Sushi Chef Lubo Haponik.
Their new menu marks a new era for the restaurant, with a more relaxed dining style. From small plates and skewers centred around the wood-fired grill to a weekly-changing selection of maki, temaki, and nigiri, it’s perfect for a light meal or a diverse infusion of flavour and inspiration as you work through the menu with friends.
From the grill, you’ll find octopus skewers with gochujang sauce and lime, or Iberico pork tonkatsu with teriyaki and pear miso sauce. MOI’s much-loved wild mushroom rice pot remains, but with more options, like the 35-day aged short rib or Scottish lobster with orange and sesame. Meanwhile, MOI's standalone sushi counter on the lower ground floor continues to welcome guests for its omakase nights on Thursdays and Fridays, with 11 courses for £95pp.
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 5:30 pm to midnight (last sitting 10 pm).
Address: 84 Wardour Street, London, W1F 0TQ
Room 86, Soho
Room 86, Soho, opened September 9th
Room 86, MOI's subterranean cocktail and hi-fi bar—formerly The Listening Room—changes the tempo this autumn, creating five distinct genre-specific nights while also curating one-off events and collaborating with external communities, creatives, and brands.
Accessible via its own dedicated entrance on Wardour Street, or through the restaurant if you wish to linger after dining, as before, guests can expect curated wines and sakes, alongside mixology that mirrors its sister venue, with snacks from the MOI kitchen available to order.
Want to schedule your visit around the vibes? Tuesday’s soundtrack is Old School Hip Hop and experimental sounds; whilst Wednesday is Funky House. Thursdays get into Deep House, accompanied by a sake pairing, and Fridays and Saturdays are for Groovy House.
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 5:30 pm to midnight.
Address: 86 Wardour St, London, W1F 0TQ
Pearl, Mayfair
Pearl, Mayfair: opening this autumn
As ever, some of the most intriguing aspects of London’s architecture can be found when looking up. Located atop a Grade II-listed active electricity substation at Brown Hart Gardens, Pearl brings all-day dining to a charmingly unusual and surprisingly serene spot in the heart of Mayfair.
Created under the direction of esteemed chef and Culinary Director at The Beaumont Mayfair, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, the menu draws on Mediterranean hospitality and bursts with colour and flavour. Centred on one main element per dish, the octopus is complemented by ‘nduja aioli; grilled swordfish by preserved lemon and parsley, served over couscous; and you’ll find lamb chops with sumac, tzatziki and dill.
Alongside the restaurant launch, the historic 950m² gardens reopen to the public after a reimagining focused on biodiversity within the urban space, led by the late renowned landscape architect and horticulturalist Nigel Dunnett. Inside, gold tones radiate through the room, as if bathed in the reflection of evening light from the Mediterranean sea, and hand-placed shells create a bespoke art piece over the back bar, where you’ll find a drinks menu honouring wines, spritzes, and non-alcoholic cocktails that echo the Southern European persuasion.
Keep an eye out for the opening date; it’s coming soon, and it’s worth the wait.
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 11 pm | Sunday 8 am to 10 pm - TBC
Address: Pearl Mayfair, Brown Hart Gardens, London, W1K 8UH
Bangkok Mama at Thai Square Minories
Bangkok Mama at Thai Square Minories: opened August 27th
Welcoming the animation and confluence of flavour found in Thailand’s most treasured recipes, Bangkok Mama is Thai Square's new concept, celebrating a lesser-known union with Italian street food heritage.
Reimagining classic Thai ingredients on a sourdough base, the Gang Panang takes a rich panang curry paste with coconut milk and kaffir lime leaves, topped with beef or prawn. The Bangkok Piccante is inspired by the traditional pad kra pao, with bird's-eye chilli and crispy basil; choose beef or tofu, and top with a fried egg. Even the more classic Mamargherita with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella and basil gets a hit of fresh Thai chillies. And don’t forget the crusts: try the jaew mayo dip, tangy and nutty, with traditional toasted rice powder.
To pile the table high, you’ll find sides like laab spring rolls, fried dim sum, and cheesy golden triangles filled with mashed potato, carrot, and sweetcorn. Finish up with the fried tiramisu gelato. Dining doesn’t have to be serious and slow to hit the spot.
Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 12 pm to 3.30 pm; 5.30 pm to 10.30 pm.
Address: Thai Square Minories, 136-138 Minories, London, EC3N 1NT
