A Wellness Weekend at Eccleston Square Hotel and Belgravia Village
At the moment of writing, we’re just a matter of days away from ‘Blue Monday’ – the third Monday of January, when the shorter days, grey skies and plummeting temperatures truly begin to take their toll on both body and mind. While I champion taking good care of yourself no matter the season, at no other point of the year does putting one’s wellbeing first feel so urgent, so necessary or so utterly non-negotiable.
Simply put, amidst the dank and dark of a winter’s morning in the west of England, I felt I had no choice but to take action against the urge to spend yet another weekend doing as little as possible in thermal pyjamas.
A delightful corner of London for a weekend escape
Blissful Opportunities to Put Wellbeing First
It’s not just about fighting back against this particular time of the season. Like so many others, I’m doing all I can to ensure that 2026 becomes the year in which happiness, relaxation and wellness takes full priority. What’s more, I’m now wholeheartedly embracing the idea that rejuvenating and re-energising getaways don’t need to mean hopping on a plane to faraway shores and balmy climes. After all, the British wellness scene continues to progress by leaps and gleeful bounds, offering experiences and locations which have carefully and meticulously curated offerings to leave you feeling well-fed, well-rested and, well, better. It turns out, I didn’t have to go far at all to uncover all I needed to reset in style and to lasting, gloriously-satisfying effect.
Stress melts away from the balcony of Eccleston Square Hotel
With a plethora of options for a healthier, happier and more rebalanced way to spend a weekend, Eccleston Square Hotel and Belgravia Village is celebrating its status as a wellness enclave of West London like never before. Perfectly positioned on the borders of Belgravia and within a four-minute walk of the beloved ‘wellness enclave’ of Eccleston Yards and Eccleston Place, Eccleston Square Hotel is providing locals and weekenders alike with a luxurious home base from which to curate their very own reinvigorating retreat.
Make no mistake, this is more than just a getaway in the capital – it’s an opportunity to put your body, mind and senses in the hands of tried-and-tested experts, artisans and innovators. And like any worthwhile journey towards a better, brighter and healthier tomorrow, everything starts with a nourishing, restful night of blissfully uninterrupted sleep.
Eccleston Square Hotel: A Tech-Driven Sleep Sanctuary in SW1
Located in a beautifully grand white-walled Grade II-listed Georgian townhouse, Eccleston Square Hotel looks to all the world the epitome of West London regency grandeur. However, this hotel prides itself on being a thoroughly hi-tech operation, meaning an enormous amount of care and investment has gone into ensuring each and every bedroom boasts an array of features selected for their ability to ensure a truly exceptional night’s sleep.
Worth the trip in itself: The Hästens adjustable massage bed
Central to the hotel’s offering is the famed Hästens adjustable massage bed – a peerlessly comfortable mattress and bedframe crafted from an artisanal blend of natural materials (horsehair, cotton, flax, wool and pine, in case you’re interested). The bed comes with a remote control, allowing you to tailor the angle of your head and feet for the utmost personalised comfort and, rather brilliantly, a massage feature that transforms the bed into a lulling, relaxing and immersive experience that’s more than welcome at the end of a long day. Hand-crafted in (where else?) Sweden and retailing for over £30k, it’s no wonder these beds have something of a cult status among those who take their sleep very seriously indeed… and the effects of the bed quickly took hold not long after my head hit the pillows.
An Urban Wellness District on the Doorstep
Morning breaks over Eccleston Square itself – it’s one of those breathlessly romantic Belgravia private gardens, to which the hotel guests have access via a key collected from reception – and from my balcony, I notice with no small joy the effects and impacts of a wonderfully restful night.
Wellbeing awaits at Re:Mind Studio
The wellness and techy aspects of the hotel continue to reveal themselves as the sun begins its ascent in the sky; an invigorating shower comes complete with full-size bottles of L’Occitane’s beloved products (and a smartGlass shower wall preserves my modesty), the selection of coffee pods do their thing, and for those looking to rest a while longer, the intuitive Apple TV surely provides ample entertainment options. All in all, I was deeply impressed.
After a cup of herbal tea in the hotel’s stylish lounge, it was time to take the four-minute meander into what’s become known as Belgravia Village – the combined charm of Eccleston Yards, Elizabeth Street and Eccleston Place, where many of London’s most innovative and essential wellness pioneers have gathered over the past few years.
There’s a real wealth of expertise to sample in this neighbourhood; those seeking out world-class high-intensity training for empowering and endorphin-rich resets can head into Barry's, while nearby Hotpod Yoga exceeds expectations with a warming, cocoon-like yoga experience designed to encourage a winning combo of deep movement and meditative focus – perfect for maintaining balance and connection during these challenging winter months. For those wanting to go even deeper into such practices by way of breathwork, sound baths and guided meditation sessions, Re:Mind Studio has you covered, and allows you to truly unwind and reconfigure body and mind.
On the hunt for sensory satisfaction with a playful edge? If you’re an aficionado of fragrance like myself, I can’t recommend Jo Loves highly enough. Positioned as ‘aroma-therapy’ in the most literal sense, Jo Loves offers immersive wellness moments through free ‘fragrance tapas’ experiences; essentially allowing you to blend scents and explore how perfumes have the power to lift the spirits and alter your mood for daily wellness moments. Just around the corner is a remarkably cutting-edge approach to recovery and invigoration; London Cryo utilises energising cryotherapy and tailored IV drips for sessions which recharge body and mind.
Stylish and Sustainable Dining
Putting wellness first doesn’t mean denying yourself the opportunity for gastronomic indulgence, and nor does gastronomic indulgence mean enjoying unhealthy food.
Also in Belgravia Village, you’ll be able to find a personal favourite spot for some seriously tasty food in peerlessly stylish surroundings – Wild By Tart is all about beautifully designed dining based on a revolutionary approach to healthy eating. Founded by Jemima Jones and Lucy Carr-Ellison (who perfected their culinary offerings while catering an array of fashion shoots), Wild By Tart offers an utterly irresistible menu that’s perfect for a sophisticated lunch in the neighbourhood. The quality of ingredients (many of which are supplied by the founders’ farms in Somerset and Northumberland) we’d recommend the wood-fired flatbreads, chalkstream trout with leeks and bergamot, or the Devon crab with butterbeans. Divine!
A Smarter Wellness Escape in the City
Curated moments of calm at Eccleston Square Hotel
Eccleston Square Hotel and its neighbouring businesses present a gleefully contemporary vision of wellbeing, and offer guests in need of a getaway with a compelling alternative to traditional spa retreats. After all, I often find that excellence is unevenly distributed — outstanding massage therapists are frequently paired with uninspired cuisine, just as exceptional yoga sessions can be offset by limited beauty offerings. The best of both worlds is indeed out there, as I’m delighted to have found.
What do the best of those worlds look like? Well, to start with — and crucially — nothing is compromised. Visitors to Eccleston Square Hotel and its environs are invited to curate the very best of every discipline: to sleep like royalty within the hotel’s refined surroundings, to move and train with leading experts, to dine with innovative culinary minds, and to reflect with practitioners whose knowledge runs deep within their chosen fields.
This is wellness reimagined… and it’s intentional, elevated, entirely personal and not a moment too soon.
Rooms at Eccleston Square Hotel start at under £150 per night and can be booked here.
